When is GCE Registration for 2024 Starting?

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced the commencement of registration for the 2024 WAEC GCE (Second Series) for private candidates. The registration started on August 7, 2024, and candidates are advised to complete their registration before the deadline.

The 2024 WAEC GCE registration form is out, and private candidates can now proceed with the registration process. Below are the detailed guidelines on how to register without facing any challenges.

How to Apply for the 2024 WAEC GCE Form

Candidates are required to pay a registration fee of Eighteen Thousand Naira (₦18,000) at any of the following banks or accredited agents to obtain the Registration PIN and Information VCD:

  • Access Bank Plc
  • Ecobank Plc
  • First Bank of Nigeria Plc
  • United Bank for Africa (MONIEPOINT) Plc
  • Zenith Bank Plc
  • Fidelity Bank Plc
  • Polaris Bank Ltd
  • Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) Plc, and many more.

Candidates will also need to pay an additional ₦500 commission to the banks or accredited agents. After obtaining the Registration PIN, visit the official WAEC GCE registration portal at https://registration.waecdirect.org to complete the registration.

Note: Registration must be completed within two weeks of first access to the WAEC portal during the registration period.

Closing Date for WAEC GCE Registration 2024

The deadline for registration for the 2024 WASSCE Private Candidate Examination is October 20, 2024. Candidates are advised to complete all registration formalities and submit the required details before this deadline. The deadline for the generation of the PIN is set for October 17, 2024

General Guidelines for WAEC GCE Registration

  1. After registration, candidates should print their Admission Notice/Photo Card, which will serve as proof of successful registration. This card will be required for entry into the examination hall, and it will also contain the Result Checker PIN.
  2. Candidates are expected to use a Digital Personal Scanner for biometric data and fingerprint registration.
  3. Ensure all the information provided, including your name, gender, passport photo, and date of birth, is correct as the council will not entertain correction requests after the examination begins.
  4. Registration includes biometric features, which will be validated at the examination centers, and all registered candidates must upload good-quality passport photos. Any submission of poor-quality images will be rejected.
  5. The registration fee is non-refundable, and candidates are advised to review the Information VCD before proceeding with registration.
  6. Upon registration completion, download the exam timetable from the WAEC website to stay updated on the scheduled dates​

Important Exam Rules and Regulations

  1. Candidates must appear at the exam center with their original Photo Card.
  2. Candidates must not wear school uniforms or carry any prohibited items such as weapons or electronic gadgets like mobile phones during the examination.
  3. Any candidate caught with a mobile phone or electronic device will have their results canceled.
  4. Smoking within the exam hall is strictly prohibited and will result in the cancellation of all results.
  5. Candidates involved in any form of examination malpractice will have their results canceled and may face prosecution​
